Crazy About Her is a Spanish Netflix Romantic Comedy by director Dani de la Orden. The movie is about Adri (Álvaro Cervantes) a successful writer for an entertainment magazine; and a woman he has a one-night rendezvous with Carla (Susana Abaitua). They classically bump into each other and hit it off instantly. But rather than get things complicated and complex, they decide to have one crazy night out with no strings attached and never to see each other again. Come dawn the perfect arrangement ends and the two go their separate ways. But Adri can’t help thinking about her and decides to find her. Sounds like a perfect classic rom-com right; here things start getting interesting. Carla is a patient at a mental hospital. Extremely smitten by Carla, Adri hatches a plan to get into the hospital and get her number. Little did he know Carla has no further interest in him and he is to get stuck in a mental hospital.

Netflix often at times does not focus too much on the script and tries to make the movies look good with other aspects of a film. Here that is not the case with a well-thought story that has the potential to give more than a few chuckles; it most certainly is not boring for a second. The supporting cast of patients in the mental hospital do a spectacular job portraying characters with their set of illnesses. The movie is kept very much to the point and does not get off track at all. Lastly, the music fairly compliments the story playing and fits in perfectly.

As is with most romance stories these days the premise of them is fairly the same. This makes the movies highly predictable, as is the case with this one. From start to end it keeps a consistency of being predictable. As the lead female Susana Abaitua is a little disappointing and could have played her part better. Finally, while keeping the story on track usually works for the film, here it is kept so precise making the movie a tad bit short. The movie could have been stretched out, but the creators chose not to do it.

All in all, it is surely one of the better movies by Netflix. While there is a predictability to the film it does a great job displaying it nonetheless. If you are not a fan of cheesy love stories this may not be a movie for you. But if you love rom-coms and the corny dialogues, you will most certainly enjoy Crazy About Her.
